The Issue
In reviewing data from our employee call center last year, we noticed that one of our clients had numerous individuals unaware of the benefits they were entitled to utilize. Some were enrolled in programs they knew little about while others were without coverage that was available to them because the programs were not communicated well to everyone.
Our Solution
The surprising thing was that this particular employer offered a comprehensive package of benefits to their employees. The problem was that the benefits were largely hidden! The employer had resisted our efforts over the years for education and promotion of the company’s programs. We explained to the business owner that it isn’t enough simply to have a good benefits program, employees need to be aware of the opportunities for usage and be motivated to enroll and take advantage of the benefits, otherwise the company’s benefits budget is wasted! Management finally agreed, and we proceeded to develop a massive communication campaign, with regular newsletters, seminars and content for their intranet site.
Result
The results were nearly immediate. Employees were thankful for the benefit awareness campaigns we ran and began utilizing benefits that many never knew they had. Management noticed an uptick in employee morale and saw an increase in appreciation employees felt toward the investment that was made in their health and well-being.
